In season 8, episode 3, we see the love
story of Debra Canady and Brent Starr who committed the murder of
David Grimm in the state of Washington. A love story gone twisted,
that ends with Debra Canady being convicted of first-degree murder
and being sentenced to 28 years and Brent Starr being convicted of
murder in the first degree with a deadly weapon enhancement and
sentenced to 28 years.
Oxygen describes the show as A woman
and her new boyfriend devise a vicious plot to get rid of an old
boyfriend.
Her appeal includes: On the morning of June 26, 2008, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Debra Canady telephoned 911and reported that, upon entering herhome, she had found her ex-boyfriend, David Grim, unconscious. A police officer was dispatched in response to her call. Canady explained to the responding officer that she had spent the previous night at the home of her current boyfriend, Brent Starr. She further told the officer that she believed Grimto bedead. Grim was, indeed, dead, having sustained repeated blows tothe skull with a blunt object. Testimony at trial indicated that the fractures in Grim’s skull were made by a drywall hammer. Both Canady and Starr were questioned bypolice. During Starr’s interview, hestatedthat Canady had sent a text message to him on the morning of Grim’s death, informing him that Grim was dead. However, during her interview, Canady denied having communicated with Starr in any way about Grim’s death.
